About Sammee

Greetings, I'm Sammee! I was born in Cleveland, Ohio and raised in Erie, Pennsylvania (Go Steelers!) West Valley City, Utah and San Francisco, California. I developed my passion for Photography when when my Aunt gave me my very first camera at the age of 6 years old. It wasn't just any camera, it was a Minolta P, my Aunt's camera. The first picture I ever took was of a baby tiger shark that was in a catch pool by the Marina in San Francisco. From that moment I was hooked, whether photographing with my Grandfather's Kodak 110, a 35mm or a Polaroid, I always had a camera attached to my face. In High School I took a Photography course at the local University and got my first subscription to Popular Photography Magazine. From that moment on I was known as, "Oh Crap, she has the camera out again!" :)

My passion for pictures kicked into high gear with the birth of my daughter....then my son....both of whom are huge camera hogs and always willing to stop and stand for a picture to help out dear old Mom. I love photographing Wildlife and Dancers, my daughter is an Irish Dancer and I become a photographing fool when we are at Feis's (Irish Dance Competitions). With all the Wigs, Glitter and AMAZING dresses, I can get lost for hours just photographing the girls....and all of us crazy Feis Mom's too.

A year and a half ago I finally accomplished my dream of owning my own Photography company. With the help of my children and our friends in the Irish Dance community, Twisted Kilt Photography was born. Through promoting my company on Facebook, I connected with Dot and struck up a friendship with a kindred spirit over 3000 miles away and across an ocean. While both of us pursued our own Project 365, we decided to team up in the New Year and do a Project 52, same theme, two different views. I am so excited to be 1/2 of Flash of the Kilt and I hope you stick with us as we take this journey together.
