Week 36 - Self Portrait

An unusual Self-Portrait story:

I knew that my friend Rosie had been diagnosed with breast cancer at the beginning of February so I wasn’t surprised when I logged on to the computer a couple of weeks later and read a message from her asking if I would like to be the photographer for a Mummies’ Calendar that she had planned as a fundraiser for Breast Cancer Care.  My instant answer was “Absolutely.  Would love to be involved.”

Who would have thought that 6 weeks later McQ Photography would have completed over 30 Naked photo shoots and that TWO calendars would be on their way to the printers?

Rosie was an acquaintance. A friendly mum with whom I had kept in touch and who often left lovely comments about my photography on my business Facebook page.  Fundraising was something that Rosie and her family had always been involved in and I had always supported their efforts by purchasing as much of Rosie’s home-made tablet as possible.  Although there was no tablet on offer this time I was still delighted to help out.

The Naked shoots were such fun to be part of.  An absolute scream at times!  I am staggered at the number of peo

ple who are willing to get their kit off for a great cause, although some were very nervous.  I am, however, even more staggered at how many were slow to put their clothes back on at the end of their session claiming it as a liberating experience and so much easier than they had expected!

With Rosie and her organisational skills at the helm and Susan by her side the models, the shoots, the editing and the meetings slotted into place with ease.  We did sessions in the most public places and blagged venues and props from here, there and everywhere.  At the end of it all there are two fundraising calendars being published which I am very, very proud to be part of and include in my portfolio.

When all the shoots were done Rosie told me that I had to supply a photo of myself for the calendars and that I too had to get my kit off for it.  So, in support of Rosie and Breast Cancer Care here I am . . .  the Naked photographer.

Update on our Project 52

Ok, I (Dot) have set myself quite a big challenge for the last 3 days of 2012.

At the beginning of the year we started this Project 52.  With one thing and another Sammee hasn't managed to keep up with the weekly challenge and, although I sauntered along by myself for another 12 weeks, I eventually let it fall by the wayside.

So . . . over the next 3 days I am going to try to complete the Project 52 Challenge that was set. Hard going but I'm going to try my best.

Watch out for the first 2 coming your way shortly.
